BDS Property Sale Deadline Approaching, County Prepared To Move On

Van Buren County’s deadline for Priority Solid Waste to close on the BDS property sale ends at 4:00 PM Friday.

County Mayor Greg Wilson said he has talked and met with the company that originally told him staffing issues were the reason for delay. Wilson said he was told something would be sent to his office by Friday, but nothing has been received.

Wilson said the county is acting under the assumption they will not hear back.

“Yes, as they voted back in August, the commission that is, it will go back to Committee B,” Wilson said. “To decide how to proceed forward.”

Wilson said Priority Solid Waste was intending to build a transfer station at the property, recruiting other counties to bring their trash in. Originally, the company agreed to purchase the property for $200,000 in April.
