Test Your Creativity And Show Someone You Care With A Custom Card

A Cumberland County woman is hoping the community takes a chance to test their creativity Saturday on World Card Making Day.

Card Maker Louise Goodman said she started making her own cards 14 years ago, attending a class just like the one she is hosting. Goodman said taking your own craftsmanship to create something unique is all worth it, when you can use it to brighten another person’s day.

“Learn how to do these things and make these cards, learn different techniques and how to put colors together,” Goodman said. “They create something they know is beautiful and you can look at it and say, ‘my gosh, I didn’t know I could do that.”

Goodman said there is still time to register for the class by calling the Cumberland Business Incubator. She said the class is from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM but people can come whenever they want during that time frame.

Goodman said the class will be simple.

“To be able to make several cards and maybe in different sizes, using different colors,” Goodman said. “So if we keep them simple… they’re easy, they’re fast and people will go home with several cards and envelopes and have good greetings to share with other people.”

Goodman said you can wish someone well, happy birthday or tell them you have missed them during the pandemic. She said no matter your theme, trust yourself.

“So many people feel that they don’t have that creative gene,” Goodman said. “We can guide them along, that’s the wonder of it all because you sit there and you just put a little ink on a little paper and voila, you’ve got quite the dandy sentiment.”

Goodman said they offer the card making classes monthly. She said people can reach out to her to find out more information at 707-2798.
