Jackson EMS Receives Grant To Upgrade Ambulances

Jackson County EMS will soon get an upgrade in their ambulance loading systems.

EMS Director Keith Bean said they were approved for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant, which he said EMS is eligible to receive.

“We’ve applied for years in a row trying to get it for the loading systems,” Bean said. “Which will make it a lot easier on the personnel loading patients. That’s where we get a lot of our injuries at. So we’re fortunate enough to get it. It’s a five percent matching grant.”

Bean said that the amount was approved for some $146,247. He said that with the five percent match requirement, bringing the total budget amount to $153,560.

Bean said this kind of technology will play a key role in the safety of both his employees and patients that need this service.
