Flash Flood Warning Issued In Van Buren, Several Roads Impassable

Van Buren County seeing several impassable roads due to heavy rains and flooding in the northeast part of the county Wednesday.

EMA Deputy Director William Maxwell said those roads include Cane Creek Road, potentially Highway 30, and the park road from the Rock House Creek Bridge. He said the situation is still developing.

“Northeastern part of the count in the CAne Creek Watershed,” Maxwell said. “Cane Creek runs out of Fall Creek Falls down through the northeastern part of our county and into the Caney Fork River. All that area is experiencing some heavy rains at this point and some flooding.”

Maxwell said that drivers should exercise caution as the night continues. He said that as of their last conversation, the National Weather Service had issued a flash flood warning for the county until 7:45 p.m.
