Are you hungry? Cookeville’s Knights of Columbus Chapter will be cooking up Boston butts for sale Saturday.
The Knights’ Russell Steel said the group has a long tradition of this type of fundraiser.
“We’ve been cooking Boston butts for years,” Steel said. “We’ve got quite the reputation for them. They’re the best in Cookeville for the price.”
Steel said there is a secret to the Knights of Columbus’s long track record of delicious Boston butts.
“It’s the way we slow cook them,” Steel said. “We season them, we start Friday morning seasoning. We put them on the cookers and we cook them all night long on Friday night, and sell them Saturday.”
That slow cooking….and one other thing brings people back year after year.
“People know what it’s for,” Steel said. “Thye know what the Knights are doing as far as the charity work is concerned. They know there is no measurement or overhead to it whatsoever. It’s strictly clear profit. And you can’t be this deal on a Boston butt anywhere.”
You can order your Boston butt….267-8223. Steel said that butts are $35. Butts will be ready by 8 a.m. Saturday morning.
