This week in the Upper Cumberland the Overton County Commission will consider a grant application to purchase a building for a new community center.
The T-Mobile Hometown Grant funds up to $50,000. Commissioners will also vote to provide county life insurance to employees and elected officials. The final redistricting plan will also be reviewed. Business begins Monday at 5:00 p.m.
The Putnam County Commission will discuss American Rescue Plan spending Monday. Employee stipends, a health department addition and water projects will be the focus.
Commissioners will also consider accepting an offer made for the 29 acres of the “Shoney’s Hill” property. The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Cookeville Community Center.
The White County Commission will consider its new district plan Monday. Populations in Districts seven and one are subject to change. The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. at the county courthouse.
The Pickett County Commission meets at 6:00 p.m. Monday at the county courthouse.
The Fentress County Commission will appoint a new member to the Industrial Development Board . Shea Wright looks to fill the remaining term for Mark Norman. Business begin at 6:00 p.m. at the county courthouse.
The Pickett County Board of Education gathers at 7:00 p.m. Monday at Central Office.
Tuesday, the Celina Board of Aldermen will consider a resolution in support of the Joint Industrial Board Sewer System improvement project. The goal is to lift the current moratorium to allow more sewer connections.
The purchase of a movie projector, screen and sound system for Donaldson Park will also be considered.
The Van Buren County Commission will hear a recommendation from Steering Committee B to list the BDS property through a real estate firm. The public will also be able to view the redistricting plan of the county in the same meeting starting Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
The Overton County Board of Education will meet Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at central office. Members will hear a stadium renovation report from Chairman Mike Hayes. The estimated cost for renovations have came in over budget.
Wednesday, the Van Buren School Board gathers at 5:30 at central office.
Thursday, Sparta’s Board of Aldermen will have a second reading of an ordinance removing size limitations on political signs. Business begins at 5:00 p.m. at the municipal building.
Cookville’s Water Quality Control Department will receive two rewards at Thursday’s council meeting.
Cookeville Wastewater Treatment Plant earned the 2021 Operational Excellence Award and the Cookeville Water System scored 100% on the State of TN Sanitary Survey.
Council members will also consider authorizing an agreement for the preliminary engineering and design of an aquatics facility. Business begins in the council chambers at 5:30 p.m.
The White County Board of Education meets at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, as well as, the Jackson County School Board.
