Architects, Builders Preparing for Fentress ER Renovations

Architects and builders have been on the ground in Fentress County surveying the standalone ER and 24-hour clinic facility.

County Executive Jimmy Johnson said the next step is for renovations to begin at the start of December. Johnson said the best thing the county can do at this point is let UT-Medical do what it does best.

“They’ll go from there to their specifications that they need and the usage that they need,” Johnson said. “Because they know full-heartedly, 100 percent what they need and the structure that they need and how it needs to be renovated.”

Johnson said that UT-Medical is currently working with the state to finalize paperwork involved with redesigning the building. Johnson said that the opening date for the facility could now happen as early as April 2022.

He said that June 2022 would be three years without a medical facility in the county.
