Cookeville’s Water Quality Control Department recently received good news.

The Wastewater Treatment Plant was notified by the State of Tennesse Sanitary Survey it scored 100 percent for its water system. Director Ronnie Kelly said that they’re proud of the accomplishment.

“Evaluates every aspect of your water system, your water tanks, your water plant, how you collect data, how you do sampling, and all that. And it’s 599 points, and we scored 599 which we got 100 percent which we’re very proud of.”

Kelly said that the department was also presented with the 2021 Operational Excellence Award. He said that the award comes from the department doing a good job following protocol and ensuring their water quality was up to the right standards.

Kelly said this is a testament to the hard work of the department’s employees.

“It’s an indication of what our employees do, and they do a good job and it’s recognition of that,” Kelly said.
