Gainesboro will observe Halloween on Saturday.
The holiday falls on a Sunday this year. Mayor Lloyd Williams said as always, trick-or-treating begins at dusk.
“Me and the aldermen got together, and we decided to do it on a Saturday,” Williams said. “I’ve got young kids, and it gives parents a better opportunity to spend more time with their kids. Not have to worry about getting ready for school the next day.”
Williams said a local Jeep Club will be set up at the downtown square decorated and handing out candy. Williams said for homes participating, keep the porch lights on if welcoming trick-or-treaters.
“When you run out of candy to hand out, just turn the porch light off,” Williams said.
Williams said residents should use their best judgement while venturing out Saturday. Williams said law enforcement will also be patrolling that night.
“If anybody wants a good time, just come on down to our little city and enjoy yourself. It will be a good time,” Williams said.
