4th Annual Dale Holloween Provides A Safe Space For Community Halloween Fun

Dale Holloween makes a return to the Byrdstown Activities Park.

Mayor Sam Gibson said that the celebration will be held on October 30th, the Saturday night before Halloween. He said that there will be businesses and churches ready to go to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters who attend.

“We try to invite as many people that would like to participate,” Gibson said. “Just like trunk-or-treat, a lot of churches, a lot of business people and then individuals that just enjoy giving candy out.”

Gibson said that the celebration has gone on several years, seeing some 500 kids. He said that the best aspects of the community celebration are its safety and convenience.

“It’s so much safer, it’s so much better and easier for the parents too because they can make one stop and visit 25 to 30 booths with different people giving out candy. So it makes life better for the parents and safer for the kids, so it’s a win-win situation.”

Gibson said that this year they’ve added an extra component to the celebration as well. After trick-or-treating, Gibson said they’ll have an outdoor showing of the Halloween classic “Hocus Pocus.” He said that the town wants people to be able to come together and celebrate as a community.

“We built a pavilion, we’ve got an activities park,” Gibson said. “We do these things to encourage participation from our community. Even though we’re a town, we’re a town of Byrdstown right there at the city limits. We get a lot of participation overall.”

Gibson said that the event will be free for any who wish to attend. He said that trick-or-treating runs from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., followed by the showing of “Hocus Pocus.”
