This Week: Livingston Reads Burn Ordinance, Monterey Considers Special Event Permits


This week in the Upper Cumberland the Cookeville City Council will gather for a work session.

Business begins at 4:30 p.m. at the Cookeville Municipal Building.

The Livingston Board of Aldermen will have its second reading of an Open Burn Ordinance Monday. The new rule could create oversight by requiring a permit for fires exceeding six feet in diameter and three feet high.

Aldermen will also discuss flood mitigation of Livingston. Business begins at 6:00 p.m. at city hall.

The Monterey Board of Mayor and Aldermen will have several readings of potential ordinances. Members will consider new regulations that allow mobile food vendors, special event permits for alcoholic beverages and zoning regulations over commercial parking.

The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. at city hall Monday.

Tuesday, the Crossville City Council will continue discussions on downtown parking. The city working with a local business to lease its parking lot for public use. Members will also review bids to improve the Meadow Park Lake treatment plant.

The council will convene at 5:00 p.m.

The White County Planning Commission will consider a final subdivision plat for property located on East Bethlehem Road and Levon Sparkman Road Tuesday. The development would create four lots.

The commission will begin business at 5:00 p.m. at the county courthouse.

At 6:00 Tuesday, the Putnam County Planning Commission will gather for a meeting. Members will consider a subdivision plat for the second phase of Autumn Woods Subdivision, 59 lots located off Cumby Road.

Members will also consider a 80 acre subdivision off Water Plant Road. The commission will gather at the Cookeville Community Center.

Thursday, the Sparta Board of Aldermen will meet at 5:00 p.m. The Cookeville City Council meets the same day at 5:30 p.m.

The Putnam County School Board also gathers Thursday starting at 6:00 p.m. at central office. The Gainesboro Board of Aldermen will meet at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at city hall.
