Celina looks to bring monthly move nights to Donaldson Park.
The Board of Aldermen approved the some $12,000 purchase for a projector screen and sound system. Mayor Luke Collins said he would like to have a showing this month.
“Through town meetings and also through just listening to people when you go to ball games or you go here or there,” Collins said. “As a public servant, people will say hey have you ever thought about this, so that’s where we got the idea.”
Collins said the purchase also goes with Celina’s efforts to bring more activities for local youth. Collins said films will be shown on a 20 by 30 foot inflatable screen. Collins said he would also like to show some holiday themed movies around the holiday season.
“It’s pretty neat,” Collins said. “It’s about suitcase sized, but then you plug it in, and a giant screen blows up. We would like to have something in November to see how it goes.”
An official schedule for showings and times has yet to be finalized, Collins said.
