CRMC’s Dr. Sywak Inducted As Fellow Of The American College Of Surgeons

Cookeville Regional Medical Center vascular surgeon Dr. Michael Sywak has been inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Sywak earned his medical degree in 2011 from St. George’s University in Granada, West Indies. He joined the medical staff at CRMC in August of 2019. Since joining, he has seen the vascular lab earn its first award for vascular quality.

Sywak is one of 2,350 surgeons from around the world inducted into the organization, marking this year’s class of inductees as one of the largest ever.

The American College of Surgeons was founded in 1913 as a scientific and educational organization to help raise the standards of surgical practice and improve the quality of care for surgical patients. To be inducted, an applicant must have graduated from an approved medical school, completed advanced training of one of the 14 surgical specialties recognized by the College, have certification by an American surgical specialty board or appropriate certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and must have been in practice for at least one year at the time of his or her application.
