Van Buren BOE Waives Attendance Requirement For Semester Exams

The Van Buren County School Board approved Wednesday waiving attendance requirements for semester exams this school year.

The school board passed the same action last school year. Before, students with perfect attendance and a passing grade were exempt from semester exams. Now, all students with passing grades are not required to take the exams.

Director of Schools Cheryl Cole said the system continues to have students out with COVID, so the action was needed.

In other business, board members also approved a contract for a special education assistant for two days a week. Cole said one of the special education teachers is out on leave time.
