Baxter To Use New Christmas Parade Route For 2021

Baxter’s annual Christmas Parade is changing its route for the first time in several years.

The new route will travel along First Avenue, Main Street, Fourth Avenue, Buffalo Valley Road, Third Avenue South, and Broad Street. Fire Chief Matthew White said that the parade will start and end at Cornerstone Elementary.

“We wanted to expand it a little bit because our parade keeps getting bigger and better every year,” White said. “So we’ve tried to expand it by including another section throughout the city and take another block or two up so we’ll have plenty of room.”

White said that after the parade starts, several streets will be closed down through the middle of Baxter to ensure the safety of paradegoers. He said that they advise people to take alternate routes when traveling during that time.

The parade will be held Friday, December 3rd at 7 p.m., featuring Baxter City Councilmen as the grand marshalls. City Recorder Sharon Carlisle said that lineup for anyone wanting to be in the parade is 6 p.m. at Cornerstone Elementary.
