Three-Car Accident On I-40 Slowed Thanksgiving Sunday Traffic

A three-car accident slowed Thanksgiving Sunday traffic on Interstate 40 near Monterey.

21-year-old Hannah Martin of Oneida, Tennessee was traveling eastbound near mile marker 295 in the first lane when she merged into the second lane to avoid slowed traffic ahead. Both 26-year-old William Stokes of Powell, Tennessee driving a 2015 Toyota Highlander and 74-year-old Constance Gray of Williamsburg, Virginia in a 2015 Lexus Sedan merged behind Martin.

After merging, Stokes struck Martin’s vehicle causing it to rotate and strike the left guardrail where it came to a stop. Stokes’ vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and struck that guardrail. Gray’s vehicle went off the right side of the roadway.

Gray was then transported to Cookeville Regional Medical Center. No other drivers or passengers were reported injured.
