Outreach helped the Jackson County Schools graduate more students in a COVID year.
Last year’s graduation rates saw the system’s graduation rate jump seven percent to 88.5 percent. Director of Schools Kristy Brown said that she attributes the increase to staying in touch with students during a tough school year.
“Just keeping up with those students and reaching out to those students personally I think is probably one of those most impactful things that any school can do is to make connections with those students and their families and emphasize the importance of graduation and the opportunities that a high school diploma brings.”
Brown said that they’re excited to see such significant growth. She said that they hope it continues in that direction.
