Purchases for the Livingston Academy Stadium renovations continued Tuesday with the approval of a new scoreboard and lighting.

School Board Chair Mike Hayes said the expenditures are in preparation to put the total project out for bid on December 27th.

“The lighting there is about a four month lead time,” Hayes said. “The scoreboard there is about a three to four month lead time, so that’s why we’re trying to go ahead and get those now and get those in the process of being made and shipped to us.”

The lighting costed $292,000 and the scoreboard was $82,000. Hayes said the approved scoreboard includes the Livingston Academy logo and a wildcats graphic.

Hayes said if feasible, the school board may install a video board in the scoreboard.

“Depending on what that cost is we will bring that back next month,” Hayes said. “If it is feasible, we may end up putting a video board in it, but we wanted to go ahead and get the dollar amount approved.”

Hayes said a state approved company called Sourcewell has been the primary vendor used for purchases to avoid a bid process. Overton Schools now have the bleachers, lighting and scoreboard all secured for the project.

Hayes said bids for the entire project will be opened on January 7th.
