Bids Received For TDOT Highway 127 Project In Fentress

Bids have been received for TDOT’s Highway 127 project for work between Cumberland and Fentress Counties.

Fentress County Executive Jimmy Johnson said that the lowest bid came from Jones Brothers Contractors at some $84 million.

“I was told that it would cover the bridge and then there’s some road work on the southern side of the bridge and also on the northern side of the bridge from Low e Road in Cumberland county to around the general store area in Fentress County.”

Johnson said that the next steps will be to ensure the bid meets all required specs. He said that a representative from Jones Brothers said they expect that process to take some three to four weeks.

Johnson said that the project has been some 60 years in the making and that the county is grateful to TDOT for taking this project on.

“It’s really excited for Fentress County and Cumberland County especially and it will put a new bridge there on across Clear Creek and hopefully it will eventually be a road to come on through and it will be finished and we can help the businesses there at the industrial park at 62,” Johnson said. “So it’s just something that’s been waited for for many years and people said it never would happen and it’s finally happening. Of course, now it will take a while to get it done but it’s great that the bids are being let.”
