Clay Continuing Health Department Upgrades With Grant Funding

Clay County is continuing work upgrading parts of the county’s health department.

Mayor Dale Reagan said that the building had last received some upgrades about 10 years ago. He said they are now working the HVAC systems following the completion of the basement upgrades.

“To do that to bring that up to date and do some wiring issues that we had, and got all of that up to code and it looks really good now,” Reagan said. “We got that one completed about a month ago.”

Reagan said that the basement renovation cost about $250,000 in grant funding. He said that the grant for HVAC work will cover installing a UV lighting system that helps purify the air from any potential virus or airborne illness.

Reagan said that it’s important to keep facilities like the health department in good condition to ensure the best quality of service for the community.

“He (the director) told me that they were doing the booster shot right there” “So we’re excited about that. Anyone out there that wants to get the booster shot it’s just a drive-thru. And I encourage everybody, if that’s what you wanna do, they have them available. Our health department here is very, very, important to us here in Clay County. The staff out there, they do a tremendous job, and there are a lot of folks that depend on that.”
