The new Lodge at Fall Creek Falls State Park officially opened Tuesday.
Governor Bill Lee calls the $40.4 million building an investment in the state to further grow the state park system.
“Thirty-five million people visit our state parks,” Lee said. “$1.8 billion in economic input into our state as a result of people coming to visit these state parks.”
Lee and First Lady Maria Lee visited the site some two years ago during a camping trip. Lee said the site was empty at the time, but now through the work of state and local officials, one of the most beautiful lodges in America stands.
“I’ve been coming to this park since I was a kid,” Lee said. “We parked our car and walked down to this site and there wasn’t anything much here, but we talked about what a beautiful spot it would be, and as thrilled as I can be and honored to be right here back in this spot and it is beyond what my expectations would be.”
Lt. Governor Randy McNally, Speaker of the House Cameron Sexton, State Senator Paul Bailey and many more were present for the Tuesday ribbon cutting.
The 85-room hotel includes conference space, a full-service restaurant and lounge at Fall Creek Falls State Park. The guest rooms overlook Fall Creek Falls Lake and have a variety of sizes. All rooms feature balconies with views of the lake. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor lakeside dining with a total dining capacity of 174 people.
“This new lodge is an outstanding attraction at a premier state park,” Lee said. “It’s an example of why Tennessee has one of the best state parks systems in America. We are eager to welcome the many visitors who will stay at the lodge and continue to make Fall Creek Falls State Park a year-round destination.”
The ballroom can be divided into two spaces and holds up to 256 people. Conference and meeting spaces are available inside the lodge and at several locations throughout the park.
A limited number of rooms are currently available for reservations. The restaurant is open with limited hours and limited menu.
