UCRA Could Know Feasibility Of Commercial Flights By March

The study on commercial flights coming to the Upper Cumberland Regional Airport has began.

Airport Manager Dean Selby said the consulting company should know if the service is possible by March 31st.

“They refer to it a lot of times as an ARC study, which is just an airline usage study,” Selby said. “They are going to look at where everyone from this area travels the most and where they have been traveling. Not what will happen going forward but what has happened historically, and they will use that as their basis.”

Selby said the consulting company will use Federal Aviation Administration data such as credit card and flight records to determine trends in the region. Selby said the information will determine the need for commercial flights.

This will then decide how the airport board proceeds in this venture.
