CRMC COVID Numbers Plateau Over Last 10 Days

Cookeville Regional Medical Center has seen COVID numbers level out over the last several days.

CEO Paul Korth said that numbers of COVID patients have sat at 54-55 cases over the last 10 days.

He said that despite the Omicron variant increasing the number of younger people infected, CRMC has seen few pediatric admissions.

“I know we’ve had a few admissions with kids, but very few admissions,” Korth said. “I think most of the trend of them having COVID is going to be on the out-patient side and they’re really not admitted to the facility.”

Dr. Ernest Buchanan, a Cookeville Regional Family Medicine Specialist, said that he sees all ages getting the virus.

Korth said that while there were some diversions in patients, but the hospital is not at capacity. He said that flu cases, regular procedures, and COVID patients are what’s filling the hospital.

“It’s a little bit of everything,” Korth said. “Flu is a little bit more relevant this year than last year, COVID numbers are higher, of course not to the peak we saw last year. It’s just a little bit of everything.”
