Cumberland County Habitat for Humanity Fundraising Through Golf Scramble

Cumberland County Habitat for Humanity’s 13th annual Chili Open golf scramble returns to Fairfield Glade Saturday.

Originally scheduled January 29th but moved due to possible inclement weather. Director of Development  Jessica Stephens said registration open this week for the nine-hole scramble featuring a chili lunch.

“We’ve had it for several years now, and it is something that lots of folks in the Upper Cumberland as well as folks from other parts of the country,” Stephens said. “They look forward to it every year. It is one of the first golf tournaments here in the Upper Cumberland.”

Stephens said the course being played on is the Heatherhurst Golf Course. Stephens said the scramble will have a shot gun start meaning players begin at the same time at different holes.

Stephens said players will need to pay $50 to participate. Stephens said the money helps continue the mission of Habitat for Humanity as well as help operate the organizations used furniture store.

“The main service that we offer to local deserving families is a partnership,” Stephens said. “Our organization we partner with local families that are unable to secure permanent housing.”

Stephens said the event begins at noon on February 5th. Stephens said players are asked to arrive early. You can register in-person that morning or contact (931) 484-4565.
