Cordell Hull Receives Almost $2 Million For Park Upgrades And Updates

Cordell Hull State Park was awarded just under $2 million from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Park Ranger Ashley Webster said that the money will be used to improve the restroom at the Defeated Creek Recreation area, update the electrical line at the Salt Lick Campsite, and modernize the Power Plant.

“A majority of them have been worked on, modified, in order to keep up with demands, and needs, and visitation, and age,” Webster said. “So we’re excited about the restrooms, the electrical lines. Just pretty much starting from scratch on those will hopefully give us a great 50 years to come.”

The money for these projects is a part of the $22.81 billion in supplemental funding provided by two recently enacted laws: the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act; and the 2022 Disaster Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act.

Webster said that their goal is to complete the work during the off-season to avoid any inconvenience to park goers.
