TTU’s Joseph Hermann Inducted Into Hall Of Fame Of Distinguished Conductors

Tennessee Tech’s Director of Bands Emeritus has been inducted into the Hall of Fame of Distinguished Conductors

Joseph Hermann served at Tennessee Tech between 1989 and 2017, and won the Outstanding Faculty Award for professional service, in addition to many other awards from national band associations. He’s one of just 63 members of the hall, established by the National Band Association. Hermann joins fellow member John Phillip Sousa.

Hermann served on the board of directors for the prestigious American Bandmasters Association and later served as its 72nd president.

Hermann said that one of his favorite parts of working at Tennessee Tech was his colleagues in the music department. He said the department’s comradery enabled them to make some great things happen for their students, like playing in major state and national conventions.
