TTU Faculty Rep Sees Lee’s Budget As Exciting For Faculty

Tennessee Tech Faculty Senate President Jeannette Luna said Governor Bill Lee’s proposed budget is exciting for university faculty.

Included in the proposal a four percent salary pool increase for higher education employees. Luna said if passed, retention and recruitment of employees could be more successful.

“The Governor’s budget this year is very healthy for higher education here in the state of Tennessee and at Tennessee Tech, and so we’re excited at the prospect of four percent and we’re eager to see how that would play out at Tennessee Tech University.”

Luna said this would mark the fourth salary increase over the past five years. Luna said the impacts of this salary pool bump are unknown at this time, but the possibility bods well for the interest of employees.

Lee’s budget still needs approval from the General Assembly before implementation.
