One Injury In Monday I-40 Accident


One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident on I-40 near exit 277 on Monday.

18-year-old Kamea Higgins of Tennessee was traveling eastbound with a one-year-old in 2012 Kia Optima when she was side-swiped by 40-year-old Nika Watson of Mississippi. Watson was navigating a curve when she drifted into Higgins’ lane.

After impact, Higgins’ car came to rest in the first lane. Watson pulled off onto the right shoulder.

According to Tennessee Highway Patrol, only Higgins suffered injuries. All were wearing seatbelts, and no charges were filed.
