Putnam Election Commission Approves Poll Worker Pay Raise Recommendation

The Putnam County Election Commission has approved pay raise recommendations for poll workers.

Election Administrator Michele Honeycutt said that there is not a set raise, but one calculated based on each employee.

“We looked at other counties,” Honeycutt said. “granted there are other counties that are less but they don’t have as many workers, it’s a little bit smaller. A lot of counties are higher, it’s just different in different ways.”

Honeycutt said that these recommendations will now go before county commission for approval. She said that they hope it will be implemented at the start of the next fiscal year’s budget in July.

Election Commissioner Wendy McCowan said that the work of Honeycutt and those in the office who worked on the list is amazing.

“It’s extremely detailed (…),” McCowan said. “It really shows the difference. It shows how small of an amount some of the workers had and the amount of work that went into this and the suggested pay to go up, so thanks to the office for putting this together.”
