Livingston Focusing On Paving And Water Meters With ARP Money

Paving and water meter upgrades highlight Livingston’s ARP spending plan.

Mayor Curtis Hayes said he wants to spend $1.2 million on city streets. Then use TDEC’s allocation of $968,000 for a automatic meter reader system.

“Those would be addressing leaks to our system that we are currently under the review board with the state of Tennessee,” Hayes said. “I think that would go a long way that would fit one of the priorities.”

Addressing water leaks is a main emphasis of TDEC while grading score cards for potential projects. Hayes said the city could benefit financially with the project following under one of those categories.

“For the eligible money, there is a scorecard,” Hayes said. “The scorecard with TDEC that we would have to submit. Before we submit them, it is my intentions to bring both of those to the board.”

Hayes said the paving would complete the city’s initiative to resurface all city roads. Hayes said the plan is fluid at this time and wants to present the final details for Board of Aldermen approval in April.
