Clay HS Media Preparing For Spring Sports Season

Clay County High School students promoting the upcoming baseball and softball seasons through its school-based media business.

Advisor Amy Dodson said student-produced portraits for the spring season are available online.

“They actually run the business,” Dodson said. “They take it from the actual taking of the picture to fulfilling the order, so that is all student-ran. They’ve learned those business skills and nobody can ever take those away from them.”

Dodson said all the proceeds from the enterprise goes towards lowering yearbook costs for students. Dodson said the program has been well-received in the community since starting in 2006.

“We have a professional photo printer where we print images in-house and provide those at a cost for parents,” Dodson said.

Dodson said if you’re a parent who does not want to worry about snapping that perfect moment, the high school students have you covered. Dodson said more action shots will be available as the season moves forward.

“Parents do not need a camera at the games, so they can live in the moment knowing that is going to be captured by somebody for them to look back on,” Dodson said.

The class also has pictures available for the basketball season, cheerleaders and football season. Dodson said students are looking forward to graduation as their next project.

Dodson said students also snap the pictures for the local newspapers. Dodson said five students make up the operation.
