Elevator issues at the courthouse earlier this has the White County Commission exploring its options.

County Executive Denny Wayne Robinson said that the county will hire an engineer to take a look at the next steps.

“Get an engineer in that’s an expert in elevators,” Robinson said. “So that they can advise us if it’s best just to replace the whole thing, if it’s repairable, structurally is it still safe.”

Robinson said that with the elevator being more than 45 years old, the elevator has run its usefulness. He said that the elevator is one of the aspects the county will look at as it moves forward in its plans to make the county more compliant with ADA standards.
