Warren Schools Hosting First Teacher Recruitment Fair

Warren County Schools will host its inaugural teacher recruitment fair this Thursday and Friday.

Director of Schools Grant Swallows said a decline in applications has caused the school system to host the event.

“We’re hoping to one recruit good teachers to our district, but two take care of a few things so that when our teacher positions become available we’ll have prospective teachers on a list and principals can already have some things out of the way,” Swallows said.

Swallows said six teaching positions are open. Swallows said he anticipates that number will grow as some teachers contemplate retirement. Swallows said some of the positions most in need historically are secondary math and science.

“We may have had one or two positions that we were not able to fill this year, but what’s happening is we are just not having as many applicants for positions,” Swallows said. “Ultimately, that’s a concern for lots of places.”

Swallows said 16 candidates so far have been scheduled for interviews over the two-day fair. Swallows said in order to attend, one most register at

“Once that happens someone from our office will reach out to establish an interview time,” Swallows said. “Those folks that are going to attend must have a time to come in.”

Swallows said another challenge is competing with other school system. Swallows said Warren County wants to entice teachers and show that the district is a good place to work.
