Jackson Recipient Of Governor’s Community Development Award

Jackson County named a Three-Star Award winner for Community Development.

Mayor Randy Heady said that the award is indicative of the County’s work to better its economic and community development.

“This assures that you’re doing the paperwork that you ought to be doing and submitting it to the state,” Heady said. “And it also shows that you’re using your strategy sessions and planning your community development the way it ought to be.”

Heady said that the award is an honor because it means their efforts have not gone unnoticed.

He said that they are constantly working with the chamber, the city, the county, and community stakeholders to better the economic development.

Heady said that the award also opens the award for grant opportunities. He said that those grants can be used on projects decided on by the Joint Economic and Community Development Board.
