Monterey Aldermen Pass Budget On First Reading

The Monterey Board of Aldermen approved its budget on first and second reading Monday night.

Mayor Nathan Walker said no changes were made to the spending plan since recommended by the Finance Committee. It includes employee raises, an additional police officer and extra money for increased water department costs.

The budget will need to be approved on third reading in June before implementation.
