Precincts across the Upper Cumberland have seen a mixed bag of voter turnout this Election Day.
Overton County Election Administrator Craig Story said the county’s nine polling stations have seen steady voting.
“Typically for us, we do about 50 percent of our voting early and about 50 percent on Election Day,” Story said. “So, we voted about 1,720 something early. So if that holds true, we’re probably going to be up a little bit from four years ago the same election.”
Story said Overton County should have some early voting numbers up on its website shortly after 7:00 p.m. Story said the remaining precinct numbers will take a few hours to configure.
Putnam County Election Administrator Michelle Honeycutt said voting today has been slow at the 22 precincts.
“So far, we’ve not been real busy,” Honeycutt said. “The phones have not rang that much. That’s usually how we can tell, because people are changing addresses. But, we’ve not had many. We’ll see if it is a rush when people get off of work. Hopefully, it will be.”
Honeycutt said May Primaries are usually the least busy of elections. Polls will be open until 7:00 p.m. this afternoon. Honeycutt said results will be updated hourly on Putnam County’s website.
White County Election Administrator Dorcas Marcum said about 1,200 voters have came to the polls. Marcum said that’s about average for a May Primary.
