Sign Ups Are Live For Livingston Academy’s Transition To High School Program

Sign-ups are live for Livingston Academy’s “Link to LA” program set for May 31st to June 3rd.

Overton Schools Math and Instructional Science Coach Deanna Savage said the program is available to all rising 9th graders in Overton County. She said organizations want to help students as they transition from middle school to high school.

“We just know that it can be somewhat uncomfortable for some students,” Savage said. “And so our goal is just to make this an opportunity to serve as an introduction as to what students can expect to experience at that high school level.”

Savage said over the course of four days, students will experience hands-on STEM activities and learn about what Livingston Academy offers. She said that they’ll deep-dive into things like clubs and CTE course opportunities.

Savage said that the program was started with a career exploration vision by the CTE Director, Gear Up Coordinator, and the administration.

“One of our goals is to make sure that we provide this transition and maximize student potential,” Savage said. “Through a variety of educational and social opportunities that we feel like will help.”

Savage said it’s a great opportunity to see what LA is about as well as socialize with their classmates before they enter high school. She said parents or students can sign up online or by contacting Katrina Huddleston at Livingston Academy.
