Clay Selects New Building Codes Inspector

Clay County Commission has selected a new building codes inspector.

Mayor Dale Reagan said that Anthony Blakely will serve as the inspector for both residential and commercial building codes. He said that Blakely will also serve as the issuing agent for building permits in the county.

“Any time that you’re building a new structure, especially a new home, and if you’re going to be financing it through a bank or something they’re going to require you to have a building inspector check the foundation and the framing,” Reagan said. “And that’s basically what this building inspector would do. And he’d go by international codes, so it’s very important.”

Reagan said that Blakely will fill the role following the retirement announcement from current inspector Marvin Dyer.  Reagan said that Dyer will stay on to finish his current permits.
