Baxter Working To Clean Hydraulic Fluid Leak On First Avenue

A city tractor has leaked hydraulic fluid along First Avenue in Baxter this afternoon.

Police Chief Danny Holmes said a hydraulic hose busted that leaked fluid onto the pavement. He said that it has not gotten into the water.

“Nothing that the citizens of Baxter should be worried about except to avoid First Avenue South if at all possible,” Holmes said. “Because it is a very dangerous situation because it’s very slick.”

Holmes said that the fire department, police department, and public works departments are working to address the situation. Holmes said that they are trying to get sand out on the road to dry it up.

Holmes said that it should be cleaned up quickly, ideally before school gets out.
