An Alpine, Tennessee man has received three charges following an accident on Hilham Highway in Overton on Thursday.
34-year-old James Leonard Vaughn was driving westbound on SR-85 when he drifted into the eastbound lane and struck the vehicle of 25-year-old Daniel Flatt of Monroe head-on.
Vaughn has been charged with a DUI, Vehicular Assault, and Driving on a Revoked License. Other charges are pending the investigation.
Two witnesses that had observed Vaughn’s vehicle prior to the crash stated that the driver was driving erratically. The witnesses stated that Vaughn was driving in the wrong lane and at times without any lights on. One witness had attempted to call 911 before the crash but was unable to get through.
