This Week Overton Schools Work On Budget, Cumberland Creates New Water Board


This week in the Upper Cumberland the Overton County School Board will review the first draft of its new fiscal budget.

Two nursing positions, support staff insurance and raises are proposed. The meeting begins at 4:00 p.m. Monday.

The Cookeville City Council will have a work session at 4:00 p.m. Monday. Council members will review the agenda for Thursday’s meeting at 5:30 p.m.

The Putnam County Commission will consider a $100,000 bond requested by the school board Monday. The loan would be used for insurance, according to the meeting agenda.

The Planning committee will also recommend a parking ordinance for county owned lots. The Budget Committee will convene when the commission meeting comes to a close to continue budget work.

Business begins at 6:00 p.m. at the county chambers.

The White County Commission will consider a budget amendment Monday for the school system to replace the central office roof. The work would cost about $135,000. The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m.

The Cumberland County Commission will consider adopting a private act to create the Cumberland Plateau Water Authority. Commissioners will start at 6:00 p.m.

The Pickett County Commission and Fentress County Commission also meet at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

The Monterey Board of Aldermen will have a special called work session Monday night. The Board will work shop the town’s events at 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday, the Van Buren County Commission will hear a report from committee. The meeting starts at 6:00 p.m.

Thursday, the Sparta Board of Aldermen will meet at 5:00 p.m.
