Cookeville City Council Candidate Gene Bressler Withdraws

Cookeville City Council Candidate Gene Bressler announced on Monday he would withdraw from the upcoming council race.

Bressler was one of 12 candidates to qualify for the city council ballot in the August election. Due to a family health situation, Bressler decided he must withdraw to dedicate his time to his family. Bressler said that he hopes to return to the race in the next cycle.

“Serving the citizens of Cookeville is something that I feel very strongly about, which is why I was looking forward to an exciting and enthusiastic campaign for the City Council,” Bressler said.

“However, it’s just not the right timing for me and my family. I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to everyone who has already reached out to support me during this campaign. Hopefully, I can return to this race in the next cycle with 100% focus. But in the meantime, I encourage all voters to take an interest in Cookeville’s future by talking with and supporting the many other worthy candidates in this race.”
