A new manufacturing business has moved from Gallatin to Sparta.
Fusion Tools Inc creates cable ropes and shackles for the industrial market. Vice-President Wes Howard said family, expansion opportunities and more employees is why the company selected Sparta.
‘We actually scoured the state all the way from Dickson, Tennnessee over to Oak Ridge, Tennessee,” Howard said. “We sent a considerable amount of time looking at all the different markets and analyzing what made the most sense for a new location.”
Howard said the search for a new home began in the fall of last year. Howard said a big draw of Sparta was the ability to pull prospective employees from multiple cities. Howard said operating at this location was also cheaper.
“It was not a straight forward process. We initially bought (the building) for investment purposes. Then come about fall of last year, it might make sense to move the business there,” Howard said. “We were originally going to look at expanding the business in Gallatin, and it just wasn’t feasible to us.”
“Since we had that building available to us and all the advantages, it worked out for us very well,” Howard said. “The other big advantage is there is a feature in Sparta that we like. We found that the people in the county government were quite reasonable and easy to work with. It was a seamless process.”
Howard said only two new positions were brought to the community through the move. But, Howard said the company has plans to expand. Howard said there is a potential oversees partnership.
“We have a lot of expansions coming,” Howard said. “We may be outgrowing that building already. That’s not a bad thing. We have an opportunity. Some business people in New Zealand and Australia, and they’re looking at expanding and have some product made in the U.S.”
Fusion Tools Inc. is located at 260 West Bockman Way. Howard said the site is operational but sill needs some optimizing. The company was established in 2008.
