As a year-end project, some Livingston Academy agriculture students handmade and installed bird feeders for Overton County Health and Rehab residents.
Director of Schools Donnie Holman said he worked with Center Director Jennifer Bouldin to plan out the day.
“It was just such an uplifting day,” Holman said. “We met with a lot of the residents and their smiling faces. They were just happy to meet and greet and it was just a really good experience.”
Holman said a total of six bird feeders were placed outside windows for residents to view. Holman said the ag students displayed the kind of behavior the district wants to see from students.
“It really caused some good feelings. You could tell,” Holman said. “Jennifer Bouldin she was really excited to see our students and the school system was concerned of others and doing projects to help others. It was just a great community involved activity.”
At the same time, Holman said an education aspect was present with the class practicing carpentry skills.
