A.H. Roberts Elementary School Closes For Remainder Of School Year

Overton County Schools closed A.H. Roberts Elementary School for the remainder of the year due to electrical issues.

A mass power outage that happened Thursday morning caused malfunctions in the schools main panel. The components needed to repair the issue are in short supply and are not readily available.

“We know there will be many questions, the faculty and staff of A.H. Roberts are working on these and will be in contact with you,” the school system said in a statement.

The State Department of Education approved the closure after a request from Director of Schools Donnie Holman. The system’s last three stockpile days will be used.

The final full day of school was scheduled for May 24th with an abbreviated day on May 25th. A squirrel at the UCEMC Livingston Substation caused over 5,500 Overton customers to lose power.
