Dale Hollow Eagle Cam Chatters is hosting their annual this Saturday.
Eagle Cam Facebook Page Manager Darlene Neeley said that the event serves as a way for the online community to come together in person. She said that it’s the love of eagles that draws them together in the community.
“I put out tons of information about eagles out there, not particularly our eagles but all eagles,” Neeley said. “And I’m always posting stuff out there I post stuff every single day to keep people attached so to speak. That’s about the gist of it, we just all stick together.”
Neeley said that each year they host a picnic along the Obey River where attendees can bring covered dishes. She said after the picnic, they rent pontoon boats from the Sunset Marina to search for the nest.
“It’s really hard to see this time of year,” Neeley said. “Obey and River picked a very secluded spot this time when they rebuilt their nest. And it’s really hard, even with binoculars unless you know where it is. But we’ve got a couple in our group who are really familiar with the new spot.”
Neeley said that those who are interested in the event are welcome to attend. She said that all they need is a covered dish and to chip in for the pontoon boats.
