Celina Working With Rehab Center On Land Donation For Park

Celina Mayor Luke Collins said he is negotiating a land donation with a local nursing home for a possible new park.

Collins said the Celina Health and Rehab Center has contacted the city, but the center has some requirements that need to be met first.

“They need an appraisal for a certain amount for their taxes, and they want to make sure that putting in the playground or whatever we do doesn’t cause any type of flooding issues or anything with them,” Collins said.

Collins said the small plot of land is located near the center off of Highway 53 as you enter Celina. Collins said the center has available property and wanted to give back to the community.

“We certainly thank them,” Collins said. “It’s such a great thought to give back like that and give property for a playground that will benefit everybody,” Collins said.

Collins said the negations continues his search for land to establish a city-owned park. Collins said if the deal works out, the park could be the home of proposed splash pad, which is currently planned for Donaldson Park.

“If it works out, I sure beleive the Aldermen will vote to do it,” Collins said.
