Putnam COVID Testing And Vaccinations Moving Back To Health Department

COVID vaccinations and testing will move from the Putnam County Fairgrounds back to the County Health Department Wednesday.

County Health Director Lisa Bumbalough said the department administers about 32 vaccinations a day, which can be accommodated at the County Services Drive office.

“Our goal has been to transition back to the health department when we could really absorb the additional traffic without disturbing our public health services daily, so we feel like this is really a good time to transition,” Bumbalough said.

Bumbalough said hours will also change. Vaccinations will be offered from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Testing will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Bumbalough said services will still be administered by drive-thru in the front parking lot.

“We’re grateful that we had the county fairground property to provide the service to the public,” Bumbalough said. “It’s been convenient. We had a great location. It’s been very spacious, and it accommodated us as well to provide that service. As you know, we have moved many times to accommodate the volume during the whole pandemic period.”

Bumbalough said several events planned at the fairgrounds this spring and summer also played a role in the move.

‘We welcome the opportunity to be back at the health department at one location,” Bumbalough said.
