Empower Upper Cumberland Starts Hiring Process For First Positions

Empower Upper Cumberland is hiring high-level positions to develop the processes to staff the entire collaboration moving forward.

Director Megan Spurgeon said the two positions will serve under the project manager: one focusing on training and the other overseeing required performance outcomes.

“We are looking for individuals who have either worked in this system in the past or even maybe, utilized the system themselves and want to make it a better social services system for the community and a community system that can all work together and truly bring people out of poverty,” Spurgeon said.

Spurgeon said applications are being accepted now for Operational Development Manager and Quality Assurance Manager.

“We are looking for self-starters,” Spurgeon said. “We’re looking for individuals who are willing to work as a collaborative group, so that we can make the biggest impact that we can in the region.”

Spurgeon said the Operational Development Manager will develop the most important positions called Empower Navigators. Spurgeon said these 24 positions will work with a small case load of families through the system.

“These positions are the boots on the ground, working with their small case load of families to help bring them through the system, and we’re truly looking for the most devoted individuals that are trying to serve families,” Spurgeon said.  “We are thrilled to be able to post those Empower Navigator positions sometime in September.”

Spurgeon said the Quality Assurance Manager will monitor contracts to make sure state audits are passed. Spurgeon said under the grant stipulations, the state government will regularly review contracts and participant files.

Empower Upper Cumberland is a grant funded initiative of several community groups to change how social services impact families. The goal is to bring more people out of poverty through relationships and financial resources.
