Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee came to a close this week as Great Britain celebrated 70 years of the monarchy.

A Tennessee Tech Communications Adjunct Professor tuned in with great passion. Sylvia Horn said she has been to Britain at least 20 times.

“I’ve seen her at the Balcony at Trooping the Colour. I’ve seen her at the Order of the Garter, which I am going to go to this year again,” Horn said. “It’s where Garter Knights are made into Knights, and she walks up the hill in a beautiful robe with Prince Charles and Prince William. I was very close to her.”

Horn said she has also seen the Queen at the Tower of London and the Royal Ascot horse races. Horn said she hopes to see the Queen once again in-person at the race course next week.

“Most people love her and appreciate her. She has gave her whole life to service,” Horn said. “She is very beautiful and the sight of her and scene of her, you just take a deep breath, because it is amazing.”

Horn said her interest in the Royal Family started in high school when she watched a Henry VIII television series. Horn said she first visited Buckingham Palace in 2004 and has came back to the country over 20 times.

“Britain and England and the Queen and all the royal events are in my heart,” Horn said. “Just a passion that I love. It is just wonderful to be over there and feel British.”
